Influenster Sugar N Spice VoxBox

April 3, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

I received my first Influenster VoxBox called Sugar N Spice and it was a great box to get. It was loaded with some wonderful products, none of which I had yet tried prior to getting the box.

Vaseline® Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture®
New Vaseline® Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture® is a continuous spray lotion that moisturizes and absorbs in seconds. Skin feels instantly soft – not sticky or greasy.

This Vaseline Spray and Go moisturizer is so nice. It is very light weight with only a light scent. It absorbs quickly and I love how convenient the Spray and Go feature is.

Colgate® Optic White® Regimen
Use the Optic White® toothpaste, toothbrush, and mouthwash together for whiter teeth in five days (vs. brushing with an ordinary toothpaste alone).

Right now I can’t attest to the whitening power of these Colgate products as I haven’t been using it long enough yet. I can say though that using all these products together gives me the cleanest feeling teeth and mouth ever. I brush my teeth before bed and my mouth still feels fresh in the morning.

NECTRESSE™ sweetener tastes like sugar but has zero calories per serving! 100% all natural, NECTRESSE™ is made primarily from monk fruit combined with other natural sweeteners.
I tried this in my coffee earlier tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. It actually tasted sweet, as opposed to the kinda bitter artificial taste that most artificial sweeteners have and without any of that nasty after taste.

Dickinson’s® Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes
The soothing blend of Witch Hazel and aloe on these facial wipes rejuvenates your skin by gently lifting dirt, oil and impurities from your pores while nourishing even the most sensitive skin. The result is a clean, refreshed and blemish-free complexion even when you’re on-the-go.

These towelettes are pretty nice. I got a box of them and they are in individual packets that are so handy. Perfect for the gym or travel. The towelettes are very moist and refreshing. I use them after I cleanse my face so if my cleanser missed anything these will take care of it. I haven’t had any problems with them drying out my face either.

belVita Breakfast Biscuits are made with delicious ingredients and carefully baked to release steady energy that lasts all morning. They are a good source of Fiber and B-vitamins, contain no high fructose corn syrup, have 18-20 grams of whole grain per 50 gram serving.
These are so yummy! I only had half a pack (a pack contains 4 biscuits) this morning and I didn’t even need my afternoon nap today. Me, not nap? What is the world coming to? They have several flavors, so I went out and got the chocolate flavored ones today. I’m not usually a breakfast person (except for coffee), but belVita makes it so easy to just grab a pack. Getting my much needed whole grains in is also a plus.

I really enjoyed my first VoxBox. What did you think about it? Let me know!

Disclosure: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Dry Divas Shower Cap

April 3, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

I found Dry Divas shower caps online and OMG they were so cool looking I just had to have one!

20130403-170317.jpg
They come all packaged up like a diva.

20130403-165352.jpg
I don’t wash my hair everyday, mostly every second day. Sometimes I go a third day and although my hair may not need washing I usually feel as though the rest of me does. And ya know, we have to protect our “do”. So not only can I take a shower and keep my hair dry and mess free I can look like a diva doing it. Did I mention they are handmade in the USA? What’s not to love?

Disclosure: I bought this Dry Divas shower cap with my own money and therefore was not compensated for this post in any way.

Garnier Olia Review

March 13, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

I got the opportunity to try out the new Garnier Olia hair color.  I was very excited since I had read so many good reviews for it.

This is what Garnier has to say :

A NEW STANDARD IN HOME HAIRCOLOR

Introducing Garnier Olia, the first oil powered permanent at-home haircolor. Olia is an innovative, oil powered formula that propels colorant deep into your hair – without ammonia – for pure, vivid, long-lasting color. Unlike traditional haircolor, Olia uses an exclusive 60% oil blend, with natural flower oils in the colorant. The oils help to reverse roughness and dullness for more brilliant shine, dimensional color, and softer, shinier hair with bounce.

First off it is easy to apply and doesn’t drip like some hair colors I’ve used.  Also it has no bad smell to it. That right there is a huge plus.  The packaging is very nice and the product comes at a reasonable price.

However there were some things I didn’t like.  I feel their color choices are limited.  I usually dye my hair a light reddish blond and there is really nothing close to that in this line.  I decided to try out the Light Natural Auburn and although it is much darker then my preference I do like how the color itself came out.  Unfortunately my hair did not feel conditioned at all after using this hair color.  Seeing as they say it is powered by oil I was expecting soft, shiny, conditioned hair and for me that just did not happen.  My hair felt kinda straw like.  Since coloring my hair (and I have only washed it 2x since then), I have also noticed my hair has been shedding considerably more then before coloring it.  I’m not new to coloring my hair and have not had this be an issue before.

All in all I am not a fan of the Garnier Olia hair color. It just did not give me that nice, conditioned, bouncy, healthy hair feeling my hair usually has after coloring.

Beauty Box 5 February 2013

February 24, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

Here it is, the Beauty Box 5 reveal for February 2013.

BB5 Feb 2013

BB5 product description

1. H2O Plus Bath Aquatics Shampoo

I don’t mind trying new shampoos except that I always feel that I can not get the full benefits of the product if I don’t also use the same brand conditioner with it, and there wasn’t a conditioner included to try out with the shampoo.  I do find that to be a bit disappointing.

Sample 1.25 fl oz approx. $2.00

2. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub

Since I just got my box today I haven’t tried this product yet.  But how did they know I was in the market for a body scrub?  lol. The scent is Tropical Mango and it smells delicious, just remember to scrub with it and not eat it. Very excited to give this a try.  The Tree Hut website says

“This gentle sugar scrub is infused with certified organic Shea butter, natural Mango puree and an array of natural oils. Evening Primrose, Safflower Seed, sweet Almond, Avocado, Macadamia Seed and Orange oil nourish as real sugar grains gently polish away dead skin cells, leaving your skin soft and smooth.”

Sample size 5.5 oz approx. $2.20

3. The Brush Guard Variety Pack

I have been wanting to try some of these out so my brushes keep their shape when they dry after I clean them.

The Variety pack is $5.50 for 6 guards.  My box came with 3 guards in a pack so lets say $2.75 for the what I received.

4. Coolway Boost

This is for use with the Coolway low heat flat iron.  I have read reviews that the flat iron really doesn’t do much with out the Coolway hair products.  Does that mean the hair products aren’t going to do much if I am not using the Coolway flat iron with it??  Coolway boost is a conditioning treatment used after shampooing. It also says to wait at least 2 days between Boost applications.  I guess I could use it with the Auquatics shampoo I got in this box and see how it works out.

Sample size 1 oz $5.00

5. $50 Giftcard towards iTrain.com

“iTrain is the premier source for downloadable workout programs, a mix of the best music, HD videos and the top celebrity trainer voice-overs.”  Thats nice that I can try this site and get a few free workouts to decide if I like it or not. Very cool.

6. Foldable Brush Compact

This was a cute extra in out box in celebration of BB5 1 year anniversary.

Total Box –  $61.95 (not including the bonus brush/compact.) That’s pretty good for a $12 a month membership. Hopefully everyone will take advantage of the iTrain gift card cause that is the one thing that put the box over the $12 mark.

Wantable Make-up Box February 2013

February 23, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

I have to say that this is one of my favorite subscription services so far. Yes, it is a bit more cost then some of the others but I think it is worth it for the products you get.

photo

1. Be A Bombshell Mascara

This is in color Onyx.  I haven’t tried it yet.  I am getting quite a collection of Mascaras that I don’t want them to dry out so when I run out of one I’ll move on to the next one.

$15.00

2. 29 Cosmetics Crush Cheek Blusher Berries

This is a lovely pinkish peachy color that gives a nice hint of color.  Very good for those “natural” days when you don’t want to look made up.

$36.00

3. Color Club Back to Boho nail polish

The color they sent was Earthy Angel which is a very neutral color, maybe similar to a pale taupe color.

$8.00

4. 29 Cosmetics Reserve Moisturizing Lipstick

This lipstick is in the stunning color Sparkling Shiraz.  I consider it a bright pink fushia color.   lips copy  I looked on their website and the color on there did not look nearly as bright as it really is.  That is ok with me though, I love colors like this.

$25.00

5. Real Techniques Kabuki Brush

This is an interesting brush.  It is a Kabuki brush but it also opens so you can use it other ways too. kabuki_brush_  Not to mention it goes into your makeup bag much easier when it is open and flat.

$10.00

6. Milu Beauty Amber Sugar Scrub

I haven’t used this yet…so…..I have yet to have an opinion

Price – unsure

7. Scarf

This scarf was an “extra” surprise in my box this month.  I don’t know if everyone got the same scarf or not but I love it and it is so pretty!

photo copy 2

The scarf is nice and long so you can wear it many ways I am sure.

Price – unsure

This box came to $94.oo (without including the scarf) and all the products except the sugar scrub were full size.  Great box and I was very pleased.

Popsugar Must Have Box January and February 2013

February 23, 2013 |  by  |  No Comments

Here is my Popsugar Must Have boxes for Jan and Feb.  Obviously I am a bit behind in posting cause lets just say it like it is, Im lazy.

For January their theme was getting in shape and so they had items in their box reflecting that.

Popsugar Jan 2013

 1. Stott Pilates 65cm Stability Ball

Perfect to get your workout on.

$38.99

2. The Remix TimeBomb Watch

This watch is hunky and chunky and if you like that style then you’ll like this watch.  I got a black one and others got hot pink, white or blue in their boxes. This watch sells in 11 different colors.

$44.95

3. Epicuren Lip Balm

I was not a fan of this cause I thought it tasted nasty, but not every product is for everyone.

$9.00

4. Popbar Hot Chocolate on a Stick (2)

This is, as the name implies chocolate on a stick. You are suppose to put it in warm milk, let it melt and there is your hot chocolate.  Again with the laziness, I just ate mine off the stick lol.

$2.99 ea

5. Jet Puffed Vanilla Mallow bits

Not a fan really but my son loved them in his hot chocolate.

Less then $2.00

6. Think Thin Bars

We got 3 different flavors/varieties.  They were good except for the peanut butter one.

This box came to just over $100 without adding in the Think Thin bars.

Now on to the February box.

Popsugar February 2013

1. Brokedown Wrap

This is a wrap for when you get out of the shower.  It is cute and very soft.  The only problem I have is it isn’t long enough to cover my butt when I wear it.  I guess it would work better on a shorter person.

$84.00

2. Hanky Panky Thongs

The thongs I wear are just like these but they cost about half of what these do.  They are nice though.

$20.00

3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Stain

This color that I got is too dark for me.  Or maybe I should say that I don’t wear red lipsticks even though that seems to be the big lip color this season.  That aside, this is a nice long lasting lip stain.

$8.99

4. Safe Haven Paperback Book

Yeah a book.  Now if the kids would just give me time to read it.

$10.99

5. Connoisseurs Quick Jewelry Cleaner

I used this on my wedding ring and diamond earrings today and boys did they sparkle when I was done.

$6.00

6. Mariebelle New York’s Tresor Box

This was chocolate that looked like little chocolate pearls, and were yummy.

price – unsure

7. Candy Conversation Hearts

price – unsure

Total $129.98 (not including candy)

These were both wonderful boxes with plenty of goodies in them but not really what I am looking for.  I am going to stick with the boxes that contain make-up and or skincare.  Therefore I have cancelled my subscription to Popsugar.
